Un piccolo borgo delizioso - A delicious little place
We are lucky enough to have found the unspoilt and undiscovered region before the masses. This little known region of Italy is set on the Adriatic Coast and sandwiched between spectacular mountains. There are hilltop medieval towns in abundance and much culture including open-air opera during summer months. Once such hilltop town is San Ginesio, some 2,000 feet above sea level and with all its walls intact, dating back to the 1400's. The town itself is very beauiful and you can be transported back in time if you are priveleged enough to be in the region during July and August, when the battle of Fornarina takes place and jousting during the Pallio on 15th August.
Such is the beauty and location of San Ginesio that La Repubblica national newspaper described it as 'un piccolo borgo delizioso - a delicious little place. The article referred to a UK television crew who were filming for Channel 4's A Place in Italy. We were featured in the programme and in the newspaper as ordinary Brits who had re-located to start a new life and business close to the town.
Villa Sibillini Country House was an old farmhouse abandoned for 30 years before we lovingly restored it and now love nothing more than to share our discovery of this fabulous place with guests.
